Located on Rt 1 just south of Milton, Waples Pond is a challenging pond to fish. It is one of the shallowest ponds in the County with a maximum depth of only 4' and an average depth of about 2 feet. There are an abundance of stumps which provide natural cover for the catfish, perch and small panfish that call the pond home.
Unfortunately, the pond chokes up badly during the summer so it is best to fish in early spring or winter.
The boat ramp is unimproved and can be accessed from the shoulder of Rt. 1.
Don't expect to pull in any big catches here but it's a nice place to take a young one out for a fishing lesson or just to enjoy the view and watch the fish in the shallow waters.
